SPRING EQUINOX WEEKEND:

For this special weekend in the Celtic calendar we are offering you three different events, on Friday night the 18th we have a Celtic Moon Walk across Trooperstown Hill and down into the Vale of Clara.

Saturday the 19th we are taking on the mighty Lugnaquilla, starting and finishing in the valley of Glenmalure.

Sunday we have our very popular Spring Equinox Sunrise Walk, followed by a Champagne Breakfast.
You can book any one of the walks individually or take our weekend special on all three events.    

Friday Night March 18th: Celtic Moon Walk:
Enjoy a walk with a difference and experience the exhilaration of walking under the light of the moon. Listen to the sounds of the night as you stroll along with a group of like minded people.
Our walk takes us through Ballard Forest, around Trooperstown Hill and down to the Vale of Clara.
Finishing with a walk through Clara’s Natural woodlands Nature Reserve and at the end we will be picked up by bus and taken back to Laragh.

Saturday the 19th of March: Lugnaquilla
Lugnaquilla reaches to a height of 925m, making it Leinster highest peak and one of the highest mountains in Ireland.
Our walk starts and finishes in the Baravore Carpark in the valley of Glenmalure and takes us in the Fraughan Rock Glen, out onto Cannow Mountain and onto Lugnaquilla.
Our descent route is via Clohernagh and Arts Lough to finish Clonkeen Forest where we will be picked up by bus and taken back to Baravore.

Sunday the 20th of March: Spring Equinox

To mark the beginning of spring we are organizing a special celebratory early morning sunrise walk.
Starting at 5am at the Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh Village, to be on time for that magical moment when the sun bursts up over the Irish Sea and across the mountains to mark the official beginning of Spring.
Twice a year, around March 20th & 21st and September 22nd & 23rd, the sun shines directly on the equator and the length of day and night are nearly equal in all parts of the world. The word “equinox” derives from the Latin words meaning “equal night” and refers to the time when the sun crosses the equator.
The cost: €35 per person, to include a 3-hour dawn guided walk followed by a Champagne Breakfast in the Wicklow Heather Restaurant.
